Spring Camp 2008: International Recruitment

Aiming to expand the Energy Crossroads (EC) coalition within Europe, we will host the EC Spring Camp in April 2008. At this camp students from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Northern Germany, Poland and Holland will come together, in order to establish a strong E.C. coalition in Northern Europe.

Like ripples in a pond

The geographical proximity of these countries enables us to get together personally, avoiding air travel. By this strategy we want to initiate further wave-like recruitment - like ripples in a pond. That means established chapters will, then again, recruit new chapters in geographical closeness and so on. This will allow personal meetings without climate-harming air travel.

The aim of the camp

With this Spring Camp, EC is taking a (first vital) step to achieving our goal of building up the global student coalition. In specific we aim at:

The content of the camp

The camp will have three interconnected platforms:

  1. This first platform will focus on giving the participants a thorough understanding of EC, establish a future collaboration, and form the further profile of EC in a joint effort.
  2. In this part of the camp we will hear lectures about NGO management and the new energy challenges.
  3. On this concluding platform, we will start focusing on the individual participants and participant groups (i.e. countries or regions), and what and how they can make a difference where they come from. The participants from the different region will be teamed up, and with the help of professional projects or NGO managers, discuss how to start up an EC chapter at home, and what specific projects they would like to conduct there.

Time & location

The camp will take place in April 2008 for three full days (not including arrival and departure). More specific the camp will take place in the countryside outside of Copenhagen, so participants will have enough time to enjoy the Danish spring and get to know each other personally.
