On 10th-12th of March 2009, Energy Crossroads Denmark hosted the first of a series of regional events that will run on all continents throughout the entire 2009. Through these events we aim to unite the young generation of the world in a common effort to take true and urgent action on climate change and the future of energy. More that 45 nationalities were gathered in Copenhagen at this kick-off event to address the European energy challenges. Concluding report is currently in the making.

Challenges

The European energy sector faces critical challenges in the future: fuel supplies need to be secured and greenhouse gas emissions reduced significantly while still maintaining a high level of economic growth. To shed light on different pathways towards achieving these goals and in order to foster an effort based on dialogue, synergy and mutual understanding, the participants of the summit will work together and gather their ideas to unite the different stake-holders and regions of Europe to achieve a climate and energy plan for the for theÊEuropean region for the year 2030.

Taking Action

Through workshop activities and an exiting negotiation game, specifically designed for this event, students will help each other create the future Europe we all want to live in, while learning about the complexities of creating a climate and energy plan for the European region in a fun and active way.

The aim of the summit is to show the students of Europe that it is vital that we reach a clean yet prosperous and secure energy future - and most importantly how this is possible. After spending 3 days in Copenhagen, the participants will understand challenges, think solutions and be empowered and inspired to act. This is our opportunity.
