Jakob Gaard Nielsen, President EC Denmark

Jakob is the president and representative of EC-DK, and was participating in the meetings in Stockholm in the summer of 2007 where EC-Global was founded. Furthermore, Jakob is currently working on the EC Student Climate Forum. It is his strong believe in the young generations’ capabilities as regards to solving the future energy challenges that are the main drives behind Jakob’s work in EC. He believes that EC will play a vital role in bringing together the young generations in a joint, cross-national, and interdisciplinary effort for a better energy future. Besides his engagement in EC, Jakob is managing a project to transform a Copenhagen-based restaurant chain into a sustainable business. Finally Jakob is struggling to finish his studies at the University of Copenhagen, where he studies Modern Culture on the 8th semester.

Michael Plesner, Co-president EC Denmark
Undergraduate Student, Economics
Michael is handling external relations and funding of EC Denmark. He is studying the undergraduate programme at the Institute of Economics at Copenhagen University. Michael is currently employed at the university’s Office of Climate Change and is engaged in several environmentally minded projects. Besides studying and working hard, Michael enjoys clubbing, design & architecture, extreme sports, roaming the world, seeking new challenges and trying out different ways of life!

Ole Kjeldal, Co-President
Graduate student, Engineering Knowledge Management
Ole is vice-president for Energy Crossroads Denmark. As such, he is the main-responsible person for the DTU branch of Energy Crossroads Denmark, and practically acts as portfolio manager of the projects where EC-DTU has a heavy asset. Ole is the head of the Danish group that is coordinating and preparing the technical showcase, which will be launched by Energy Crossroads simultaneously with the COP15.
Ole is currently a M.Sc. student at the DTU with his primary field being management of technology. He is, at the moment, writing his final thesis about engineering knowledge management, in knowledge intensive companies. Ole holds a B.Eng. in Engineering Design, and was as such a member and co-founder of the DTU-Roadrunner team, which designs and builds Eco-efficient competition cars.

Mirjam Schumm, International Representative EC Denmark
Master in Biology
Mirjam is the International Representative of the chapter in Denmark. Apart from this she is also involved in organizing the EC Spring Camp, the planning of the Student Climate Forum and the Conference in Copenhagen in 2009. She has been actively engaged in environmental NGOs for many years, but bringing together people from different groups of interest, countries and continents is a new and very exciting experience for her.
Born in Germany she currently lives in Denmark, where she devotes her time learning Danish and working for E.C. Committed to the E.C. Vision, Mirjam is aiming to dedicate her journey through Asia this coming summer to promote the organization. Mirjam holds a Master in Biology from the University of Potsdam, Germany.

Leoni Elizabeth Christensen, EC Denmark
Graduate student, Economics and Business Administration
Leoni is a member of Energy Crossroads Denmark’s steering committee as well as part of the Energy Crossroads Global team. She initially got involved with Energy Crossroads when meeting with the Energy Crossroads team from Stanford as they travelled to Scandinavia in 2007. Since then she has worked with the Denmark staff to establish Energy Crossroads in Denmark.
Beside her involvement in Energy Crossroads Leoni is currently planning a graduate case study trip across the States for students from universities and business schools in Denmark. Through meeting targets and case work the students will gain insight into clean energy technology developments in the US.
Leoni is currently a graduate student in Economics and Business Administration at Copenhagen Business School majoring in Finance and Strategic Management. She has a broad interest in climate issues and plans to write her Master’s thesis around corporate strategies that address climate change.
Karsten Capion, Project Manager EC Denmark
Graduate student, Energy Engineering
As a strong believer in knowledge being the key to choosing the best energy solutions and behavior, Karsten is mainly engaged in the teaching activities of Energy Crossroads - both internally and externally. He is project manager of the school campaign to take place in April/May 2009. Furthermore Karsten is involved in setting up the technical showcase.
Karsten currently studies energy engineering at the Technical University of Denmark and has a part-time job at the Danish Energy Association working with energysavings. Karsten has B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Technical University of Denmark.
Elisabeth Westerman
Graduate student, Political Science
Elisabeth is primarily engaged in the Global Event group, in particular working on the planning of the Global Student Climate Forum, which is to kick-off in March 2009.
Elisabeth is currently writing her master’s thesis on the implementation of European Union environmental law in Denmark. She studies Political Science at the University of Copenhagen.
Ted Rosenbaum, legal officer EC Denmark
Undergraduate student, Law
Is mainly working on the school campaign. He believes that educating the youth will make the future generation capable to make the right decisions.
Ted is currently studying law at the University of Copenhagen.
Nanna Isabella Bloch Hartmann, EC Denmark
PhD student, Danish Technical University
Nanna is a member of Energy Crossroads Denmark. She is primarily engaged in the planning and coordinating the workshops, which will take place at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2008/2009 as well as preparing the technical showcase that will be launched by Energy Crossroads at DTU simultaneously with the COP15.
Nanna is currently a PhD student at the DTU. Her area of research is environmental effect of engineered nanoparticles to aquatic organisms. However she has a broad interest in environmental and climate issues such as sustainable buildings and environmental engineering in developing countries.
Nanna has a M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
Asger Trier Bing, EC Denmark
Graduate student, Economics
Asger has been involved in the Energy Crossroads since the first global meeting in August, 2007. At his job, Asger is working at the Ministry of Economic and Business affairs, where he is a member of the team developing the Danish Business Strategy for COP15.
Asger has a B.Sc. in Economics from Copenhagen University, and is finishing his master in 2009.

Nikolaj Kjelgaard Mortensen, EC Denmark
Graduate student, Technical & Socio-Technical Development
Nikolaj is a team member of the Danish chapter, with his base of operation at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Beyond participating in the initial meetings between students from Stanford and Denmark, Nikolaj is a member of the Danish group coordinating the technical showcases and the upcoming carbon-dioxide-neutral festival.
Nikolaj is currently a master student at DTU. He is specialising in the technical and socio-technical development and application of flexible shaping of varies materials. Furthermore, he is for the second year in a row participating in the award winning Danish Ecocar team - DTU Roadrunners.
Nikolaj has a B.Sc. in Design and Innovation Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
